Tueqavion Smith and Bones Hyland

I’m lucky living outside Denver that I get to watch the Denver Nuggets and Bones Hyland (and of course Nikola Jokic). I was at the Nuggets game last night and Hyland reminds so much of Terquavion Smith. Both are skinny, hyper active, crowd favorites, and love to shoot from the logo.

When the Nuggets first signed Hyland I thought no way, he’s too skinny. But he’s proved me wrong. I hope Terquavion has a similar accession in the NBA as Hyland. Actually, I think Terquavion will be better, as Hyland barely plays defense. Both are so fun and frustrating at times to watch at times.

We should enjoy Baby T while he’s at State. Overall this year’s team is really enjoyable to watch. I just love their chemistry. KK and his new assistants are doing a commendable job.

OFFENSIVE LINE CREED/BAND OF BROTHERS/GRANT GIBSON

The day you chose to play offensive line was the day you CHOSE to live in the shadows.
You chose to be the last ones acknowledged.
You gave up the stars and the limelight for humility and the wins.
You are sculpted to be men of violence but yet to be protectors.
Anyone can run full speed, but you are the men who stop their charge on a dime.
You bring your pails and blue collars to work, and then clock in.
You are the determining factor in the game.
So when choosing this life, know that it gets real in your choice.

Mission Valley Shopping Center

Anyone heard any information around a long over due redevelopment of the Mission Valley shopping center between Main campus and Centennial?

The place has long been an eye sore consisting of a hodge podge of eateries, shops, some very ugly apartments, the movie theater and the old hotel across the street, which is now dorms. There is also that little auto repair shop on the corner of Western and Avent Ferry beside the College Inn dorms that always has broken down cars sitting around. Just another eye sore that looks low rent.

I’ve often wondered why the university doesn’t just buy the whole place and then partner with a skilled developer (or several) and completely remake the property with a cohesive design plan. Kane Realty would be a great partner with the experience and vision to reimagine a mixed use development catering to the university community. Something like a smaller version of North Hills would be a huge improvement. I’m just thinking out loud here but seems this opportunity has got to be on somebody’s radar by now.
