Senior defensive end Jy'Kevious Hibbler hasn't been much of an impact player through four games, and is protecting his eligibility it appears as he's no longer on the Wolfpack roster. If he had played a fifth game, he'd be done in terms of redshiting.

NC State coach Dave Doeren praised redshirt freshman defensive end Isaiah Shirley for his play against Clemson, and he'll be the second-string defensive end if Hibbler is permanently gone.

NC State senior quarterback Grayson McCall isn't dressed out, but sophomore cornerback Brandon Cisse is for the game.

Weather is seemingly beautiful today, and the drive to Tiger Town was peaceful, though felt bad for the Clemson fans who got into a car wreck about 15 minutes from the stadium. That has to be a terrible feeling on game day.

Thom Brennaman will be on play-by-play, Max Browne is the analyst and Carla Gebhart is the sideline reporter for Northern Illinois at NC State on the CW Network at 12 p.m. Saturday.

NC State will host Wake Forest at 12 p.m. Oct. 5 on the CW Network.

It looks like Clemson and defensive lineman Isaiah Campbell will be parting ways soon. NC State, North Carolina and a host of other schools will try with Campbell (or have been). I went to see him two weeks ago along with the other prospects at Southern Durham.

It's safe to say a big chunk of the true freshman and juco linebacker Wyatt Wright will end up redshirting, assuming no mass of injuries at certain positions. Of the freshman that didn't play against Clemson, but I did see dressed out were Paylor and linebacker Cannon Lewis.

Rinse and repeat. Can’t believe that this group really spent the offseason focused trying to put together a good season versus goin around and hyping themselves up. Could go down as the season that officially sinks N.C. state football for good. And that’s not hyperbole.
