OT: Syracuse-Clemson

I had a feeling this could be an interesting matchup and so far it is. Syracuse on the offensive side of the ball is well prepared and defensively they’re creating turnovers to help. Hate to harp on it but I continue to see an OC that schemes his guys into making plays repeatedly by taking what the defense gives you, not to mention the work they’ve done with Shraeder.

How Do You Quantify Return On Investment?

Had this discussion recently with some Wolfpack friends around how you define the value of the money and time you invest in Wolfpack football. And money includes not just tickets, but tailgate costs as well. I know we spend a fair amount to put on a quality tailgate with good food and drink each week and all the equipment that goes along with that.

Specifically, I’m sure we all place a great deal of value on the social aspects of going to Wolfpack football games. The time spent with family and friends and the memories made are often markers in our lives. And when your program hasn’t won a conference title in 43 years you clearly have to make other aspects of the experience your focus.

But how much do people value the actual football and success of the program? What would it take before you opted against buying tickets? The stadium continues to be mostly full in recent times, so clearly that point has not been reached for most. But just as a discussion topic, curious as to what this equation looks like for different people.

Fumble not reviewed, only the spot?

Watch the top of the football and specifically look for the white on the ball rotating out of his hands (the ball moving).

It's very clearly moving before the knee hits and should have been a touchback, our ball at the 20.

Impossible to know how it would have effected the game, but what a massive difference maker both in terms of points and momentum going into the half.

Recruiting Would you offer Micah Gilbert...

Charlotte Christian junior wide receiver Micah Gilbert has a pretty good offer list, but NC State is not a part of it, at least not yet. The Wolfpack tried in vain to get his older brother Mark Gilbert, a cornerback from Fayetteville Terry Sanford, but got beat out by Duke (one of the rare times that happened).

Without seeing Gilbert play, he was injured last year when I saw Charlotte Christian, I didn't know what he brought to the table. What I saw Friday night was someone who is going to be a big-bodied clutch possession receiver. He didn't always go against Charlotte Providence Day cornerback Chris Peal, but they did matchup a lot. Gilbert finished with 11 catches for 183 yards and three touchdowns.
