SMU went 20-12 overall and 11-7 in the ACC, and they made the NIT. Rob Lanier is pretty well respected after being tied to Rick Barnes at Texas and Tennessee, and then also was at Florida and Virginia. He was also the head coach at Siena and Georgia State, getting the latter into the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

Terrific job by Stanford in hiring Kyle Smith of Washington State. He won't get Kannan Carlyle to return but maybe Maxime Raynaud and Andrej Stojakovic might from the transfer portal. But if he can win at Washington State, he can win at Stanford in due time.

West Virginia hired Drake coach Darian DeVries, who will bring his NBA prospect son with him. He's won 20 or more games in all six years at Drake, and was a long-time Creighton assistant under Dana Altman and Greg McDermott.
