Winthrop center D.J. Burns has entered the portal. He was from South Carolina and went to York Prep in high school in Rock Hill, S.C. He was with the Georgia Stars. I saw him before the start of his ninth grade year. He always has been a big, strong kid. He signed with Tennessee and needed to lose weight and redshirted. He then transferred to Winthrop without ever playing for the Volunteers.

He is a proven scorer, but not a shot-blocker. His rebounding isn't a strength either, but he's proven himself vs. Mississippi State, Washington, Washington State and in his league. He did struggle vs. Vanderbilt.
