Nothing has ever been easy about coaching basketball at Penn State, but he got the Nittany Lions into the NCAA Tournament in his second year. Before that, he was a long-time assistant to both Purdue's Matt Painter and Butler/Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens. He might have missed Kevin Keatts at Marshall by one year.
