North Carolina has been desperate to add size in the class of 2017, and landed Sterling Manley of Pickerington (Ohio) Central High, who is a listed 6-foot-10 and 230 pounds. He is somewhat of an unknown because an injury prevented him from playing traveling team basketball during the spring and summer. Colleges flocked to see him work out this fall, including North Carolina. Apparently, someone at the school knew UNC women's coach Sylvia Hatchell, and she got the ball rolling.
UNC now wants a power forward if possible. Texas natives Jarred Vanderbilt and P.J. Washington top that list.
