Very light crowd at South Johnston High today, just 90 players and only one of substance, but it was a huge one literally and figuratively: Wake Forest High's Dexter Lawrence.
I got to see him get some testing done before taking off. He measured 6-foot-3, 330 pounds, but I watched him and I think he got shortchanged an inch on the height. He had a 7-foot-8 standing broad jump and unofficially a 4.68-second shuttle (although the other clocker I talked to got him at 4.87 on that run).
I talked to Dexter for quite a bit, and his recruitment is really far from over with no set plans, but he did tell me that he "loves NC State." I asked him about other in-state schools and definitely got the vibe that NCSU is in a good spot among those programs. He also told me that his brother, rising sophomore running back Devin Lawrence, has offers from UNC and NC State already.
