Really, all that needs to be said is Grand Slam Tommy White, or as the Pack network called him, Tommy the Tank.
Tied 2-2 going to the bottom of the 4th, White comes up with bases loaded. Some of the fans are giving this freshman a standing ovation as he walks to the plate in only his 6th game.
The announcer is listing all of his accolades through 5 games. You just knew there was no way he was going to meet the expectations for this at bat. Had to be a strikeout or pop out coming.
Nope he launches yet another home run. 7-3 Pack going to the bottom of the 5th.
Highfill gave up 2 runs in 4 innings. Had mowed them down in order coming into the 4th but gave up a lead-off walk followed by a single. Following two strikeouts, gave up a single and then Quinnipiac ran the play that never works, the double steal from 1st and 3rd....and it worked. He had 7 strikeouts and threw 65 pitches.
Prior to the 4th, the Quinnipiac pitcher had k'd 5 straight Pack batters. Haven't seen that previously this season. He is the 5th rated major league prospect out of the Metro Atlantic conference.
