Looking at the same data for basketball. there are currently about 1300 kids in the portal. There are 330 teams give or take in D1 basketball. So thats about 4 kids/team that are entering the portal this year. So just like football, based on 12-13 scholarships, a team loses 1/3rd of its team on average each year. Some years more, some years you pull an LSU and lose more.
The whole game has changed. Now throw NIL money on that fire. I dont think its a ton of fun to be a D1 basketball coach. i'm starting to think they earn that money. Think about if we lost a 1/3rd of our work staff each year.
