Coult Culler has taken that to an extreme.
The former Laney High football star was a 230-pound linebacker when he arrived at N.C. State in August 2014. Now, just 12 months and one redshirt season later, Culler is battling for playing time as a 280-pound defensive tackle.
It’s a transformation that has dramatically changed his appearance as well as his role with the Wolfpack.
But while coach Dave Doeren joked that Culler’s “Freshman 50” was the result of “a lot of food,” his weight gain didn’t come about because of the usual overindulgence. And it was anything but an accident."
