NC State coach Kevin Keatts said fifth-year senior wing C.J. Bryce got his concussion during the shoot-around this morning prior to the game. The shoot-around's under Keatts used to be a full-blown practice — the influence of his mentor Rick Pitino at Louisville. However, this season Keatts isn't doing that as much with just nine healthy scholarship players.

They were going through Appalachian State's press and Bryce got hit in the head by Manny Bates, who had dunked the ball. Bryce was a little woozy, so they held him out.

This is the third time a NC State player has gotten hurt before a game in my tenure (not counting Tobais Palmer in football). Jordan Vandenburg got tripped up on the elevated court at the Greensboro Coliseum before playing UNCG. Richard Howell got gashed on some thing sticking out from a door when he was running out of the locker room.
