Seems to me it doesn't matter what we do, we will always get sour treatment in the new landscape that is college basketball. We've been bottled up for years and we've been through some coaches. No matter the coach, the players they bring in, we always seem to fall short. I've watched a lot of college basketball this year because our coach has brought us a great product and it has made me enjoy basketball again. No team consistently fouls as much as we do. Excuse me, no team gets called for fouls as consistently as we do. I'm thirty two and it has been like this since I can remember. When Herb and Les were here we heard that we don't get foul calls because we settle for too many jump shots. What is the excuse now? Or when Gott was the head coach? Or Sid? Why do refs allow Al Freeman to get slammed by three guys going for a layup? Why is it ok for Seton Hall to hang all over us and they called Beverly and Kells for Every tick tack foul they could? Sure the refs are bad both ways at times but every time we made a run the refs were there to spread the lead back out.
We just played a Seton Hall team that was an eight seed to our nine seed. Why is a team like Seton Hall seeded in front of State? They have the exact same record and nowhere near the wins we have. We are again seeded in the Midwest to play Kansas the one seed if we were to win. Could you imagine the calls in that game? We have the exact same conference record as UNC but they are a 2 seed. Roy will get a free trip to the final four just so he can be the only one to have ever gotten to three in back to back to back years.
If you're not a fan of the blue bloods it's just not going to work in your favor. Sean Miller, Calipari, Bill Self, and Cheater Roy can literally get away with paying players and or other cheating methods and all I hear about is how Dennis Smith Jr took thousands of dollars like we are the most guilty of parties. I guess my question is, why do we continue to support this and watch it? Do we all suffer from some sort of Stockholm syndrome?
After all I have seen happen this season I am so disgusted I find myself not wanting to watch or fund this garbage anymore. The refs have ruined the sport but I think it goes so much deeper than that. There is too much money to made for it to be an error.
Like the semi finals in Atlanta in 10' we were there and Gott could have hung an ACC banner. Multiple finals by Herb where we were just as screwed. That is multiple conference championships we are talking about. Games we were never going to be allowed to win.
Penn was handling Kansas until the refs started to get involved so it all seems pretty clear for me. There are teams that can beat these high seeds but if these high seeds are blue they get protection.
We've got a big fanbase that loves basketball and will always come back for more, even when we get screwed. The difference between us and the blue bloods? They don't show up or support the crap when their teams get screwed or aren't in it. Maybe that's something we should all catch onto? If we ain't in it, dont watch it or support it?
