Eastern Kentucky guard Jomaru Brown, who is from Durham, N.C., has entered the portal. He played for former NC State assistant coach A.W. Hamilton, so there wouldn't be any guess work on this one. EKU went 13-18 this season, and former NCSU guard Braxton Beverly never came back from his toe injury Jan. 18.
Brown got injured four games into the 2020-21 season and came back and didn't quite have the same role this season, coming off the bench in 26 of 29 games. He's intriguing but not perfect. He's only 31.6 percent on three-pointers and has more turnovers than assists in his EKU career. But as a combo guard or shooting guard, he'll have an understanding that prep kids won't. Before his injury, he had 41 points against a good Western Kentucky team sophomore year, and 37 against Tennessee State. But then he also struggled at Kentucky and Louisville that season, but at least he understands what it's like playing in front of the bright lights.
