Comes on the radio one day after last night's game:

- Said he has not really slept yet since the game. They talked after the game, left hotel at 5 a.m., to catch 7 a.m. flight. Replayed their game many times before then but has been conducting player exit interviews today.

- His thoughts last night were more about what they have to do going forward because they cannot change last night. Focused on getting players to improve what they need to do.

- When asked if he would do anything differently, said they had a plan to going in and Johnny Piedmonte did exactly what they wanted, Will Gilbert got them where they wanted him, Jon Olczak was doing well until they had a couple of errors and then got two balls called on him for licking his fingers and got flustered, leading to things get away. Suggested they may have gone with Curt Britt earlier if they had to do it over again.

- Does not believe that the moment was too big for them although he did say it was the loudest crowd he had ever heard, compared the bleachers there to the cow bells to Mississippi State. Said the pitch that got away from Knizner he thought Britt was throwing a slider when Britt threw a curve (which came after Avent said was a "mysterious balk call").

- Gold asked about the balk call on Britt, Avent said that even TCU third base coach was a bit bewildered by it. Said that the third base umpire almost acted like he knew he had made a mistake, and Avent thought about going crazy. Avent said that he has been sent articles that the umpire has apparently made several controversial calls in the past so hopefully the NCAA will look into it.

- Said the players were devastated last night. Joked that the umpire locker room was nearby and he thought about having them come out to see the team so they could take their job more seriously. Was proud of the leadership after the game from Palmeiro to Joe Dunand. Told Palmeiro is was amazing how incredible the clubhouse was this year.

- Praises Bubby Riley for his hard work to come back from injuries and struggles and he was one of the guys that they hurt most for.
