I mentioned in last week's The Run Down that junior point guard Trey Green and junior combo guard Treymane Parker would be in TV games for their respective teams.
Green plays with a loaded Branson (Mo.) Link Year Prep squad that has seniors going to LSU, Ohio State and Michigan, plus a top 10 junior. He came out and hit three three-pointers in the first quarter and then a fourth three-pointer in the second quarter. He doesn't force anything, seems comfortable on and off the ball and is just steady. He's on the smaller side and he won't win a 40-yard dash, but understands how to play basketball. He ended up with 20 points.
Parker is kind of the opposite of Green. He hasn't gotten much bigger since I saw him his freshman year, but is a little bigger than Green. Parker has got some serious one-on-one game in the bag and can be flashy, which leads to scoring bursts. He's an elite athlete, period, end of sentence. I call him a combo because I don't know how much he's been coached up on running a team. That is the downside to multiple traveling teams and high schools. Green also has done three high schools in three years, but always was with Team Charlotte traveling team (at least for now) and coach Jeff McInnis.
My hunch is a lot of the same schools will end up recruiting them both, but Green has the offers and ranking now, while Parker is winning the YouTube hype. I find the situation somewhat fascinating. Now I just need junior point guard Aden Holloway and La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere to get a TV game.
