Notes & Numbers: Has been tutored by high school coach Wayne Inman, a former All-American offensive lineman at East Carolina. ... Received All-Mideastern 4-A/3-A and All-Area honors from the Wilmington Star News as a junior. ... Sculthorpe is also an accomplished wrestler who won the state 285-pound class as a sophomore. Reached the state semifinals as a junior and produced a 53-2 record in wrestling.

Recruiting trail: Sculthorpe became the first member of N.C. State’s recruiting Class of 2016 when he made a verbal commitment to the Wolfpack on Sept. 21, 2014, over an offer from East Carolina.

Sammy's take: Sculthorpe is a powerhouse who boasts a 345-pound bench press. He literally overpowers defenders in his school with raw strength and does so with an attitude that’s uncommon in blockers of his age and experience. Due to his wrestling experience, Sculthorpe knows how to use his hands and is hard to shake when he locks onto a defender."
