This was one of those games where the Four Factors tell the story.
We are not as good a shooting team as we're used to having, but we shot well enough to win this game despite allowing Arizona State to penetrate at will. Defense was, to put it kindly, not a strength, yet we "won" three of the Four Factors while losing the game. We could blame a few wild-ass shots by ASU that improbably dropped, but that wasn't the real issue.
What killed us in this game was offensive rebounding. The result was that the smaller ASU team took 10 more shots than us, and outscored us on second-chance points 28-13. And we didn't take full advantage to score off the two other Factors we won -- free throws (4 points) and points off turnovers (2 points).
