So here we are at the halfway mark in ACC play at 6-4. Not bad, could be a bit better (that Miami loss still stings). Peering over the next 10 games, I can see a 6-4 or 7-3 record over that span. UVA is tough but KK's teams seem to play well against them. We get Duke away to end the season, which won't be easy. UNC at home, where we owe them. Wake home/away and Clemson at home as well to get them back. The rest should be wins, on paper. A 12-8 or 13-7 record, considering the injuries to the frontcourt, would be a very good year for the program and would put us at 22-9 or 23-8 come the ACC tourney and would probably have us around a 6 or 7 seed in the brackets before conference tourney play. But what I am most excited about, and of course keeping in mind they will have rust and are not guaranteed to come back 100%, is getting Dusan and Clark back and blending them in with an already good team.

We will then have:

  • An excellent point guard in Joiner who can give you 20 any given night
  • A streaky but effective shooting guard in Baby T that is starting to increase his nightly assists
  • A very effective Morsell who has found his stroke and plays excellent pressure defense. Just an all-round very good player
  • An excellent offensive post man in DJ who really can't be stopped other than foul trouble and minute limitations
  • Another center in Dusan who can give you offense and rebounding and other 5 fouls we simply don't have right now
  • Clark will give you good size and strong rebounding at the 4 and offense we just don't have with Ross or Gannt, especially the latter
Keep in mind, we are missing 2 strong rebounders and two 8-10 point scorers because Dusan and/or Clark are not in the rotation right now. They also are veteran players who are mature and have been around alot of basketball, so I feel very good about them coming back into the rotation without issue. One of our main issues on offense is that when Burns isn't on the floor, we don't have any true post presence that the defense has to at least respect. I love Ebe and everything he gives, but the offense and honestly defensive post play is not something we can consistently count on.

Bottom line, we have very good backcourt play and sufficient frontcourt play right now and have won 5 of 6 and 8 of 10. We have some late game work we need to clean up, but overall, this is a very solid team that provided some health and luck, could be a very good team come March.
