A pair of local well known point guards -are watching the action at Raleigh Broughton High.

NC State senior signee Thomas Allen is watching the various games this week (been home since Dec. 16). The other is the sponsor of the tourney, John Wall of the Washington Wizards.

NCSU head coach Mark Gottfried and assistant coaches Butch Pierre, Orlando Early and Heath Schroyer are here. They'll be gearing up for junior forward Jairus Hamilton of Concord (N.C.) Cannon School.

Freshman shooting guard Carson McCorkle had 20 points to help Broughton rally past Southern Durham this morning. He made three game-winning free throws when fouled in the waning seconds in a 51-all game.

Sophomore power forward Vernon Carey Jr. of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) University School was outstanding in going for 30 points against Fayetteville (N.C.) Northwood Temple. He is a five-star top 10 in country type, whose father played for Miami and Miami Dolphins.

Soph Wendell Moore of Concord Cox Mill grinded his way to 19 points and nine rebounds. NC State remains in the mix, but UNC and Wake Forest have definitely made him a key priority already.

Tampa Catholic and unsigned senior combo forward Kevin Knox (likely a Duke lean) are about to knock off Concord Robinson and VCU senior signee point guard Lavar Batts Jr. Tampa Catholic point guard Tai Strickland, son of former NBA point guard Rod Strickland, is very solid.
