The job that Jimmy L has done at The U these last four and a half years has to be one of the more impressive jobs in the entire country over that span. He took over a program that had not posted a winning conference record in 7 years, had one NCAA Tournament appearance in the previous 7 years and had one top 50 recruit on the entire roster. In his first year he took them to not only a winning conference mark but a 4th place conference finish. In year two he wins the ACC regular season and ACC Tournament Championship, takes them to as high as number 2 in the polls, has the team ranked in the national top 10 for much of the year and gets them a 2 seed in the NCAAT. He then rebuilds the roster in year three and in year four they again finish with a winning conference record. Then now in year 5, they are back in the top 15 national polls with numerous wins over other ranked opponents including beating Duke once again. They are a virtual shoe in for the NCAAT bid and could easily end up as a 4 seed or better.
I think this has to be not only one of the best jobs by a coach at a non-basketball type school that isn't a well established program over this time frame, but also has to go down as one of the best overall hires by an AD as well. Impressive to say the least.
