When the season ended i tried to look objectively at a path where KK could succeed. I like the guy, love NCSU, and i always want everyone to succeed. I always liked the hire of KK and i have not given up on him. In my mind i laid out a 4 phase plan of what he needed to do to succeed, both short and long term. Each goal builds on the other. If you dont achieve one you will never achieve the longer term goals. (much like what i had to do in my work 3 years ago).

1. Gotta fill out a roster with some decent talent.
2, Gotta get some great asst coaches at least a fresh start and an upgrade. No disrespect to the old staff but we needed a fresh start. I never expected him to get all 3 coaches replaced. Now trust them and delegate.
3. Need a respectable season next year defined by, Contend for NIT spot. record over .500 at minimum.
4. Have some wins with some respectable high school talent and get back to the NCAA's.

Obviously you can add some smaller steps in there but i felt like these were the bigger strategic marks he had to hit.

IMO so far he has achieved 1 and 2. I never thought he would make the coaching changes he did but I'm glad he did. Now let those coaches do their thing. KK can't be all things to the program.. Step 3 is doable and has to be achieved for him to have a chance at 2024 kids. If he can get some good high school talent in the pipeline he has a solid chance to resurrect the program. As much as i like KK i didnt feel good about him pulling it off. I never thought he would achieve step 2. However tip of the hat to him. I think he has a sluggers chance now.
