This took a bit to piece together, but this is what I've learned so far about rising sophomore power forward JaQuan Scott.
The 6-8, 210-pounder played at Arlington (Texas) Mansfield Timberview, Irving (Texas) Universal Academy and TLAP (Train Like A Pro Sports Academy) in Tallahassee, Fla. He played for Urban DFW on the adidas circuit toward the end, but also had played on a few other travel teams for Nike and Under Armour. After all of that he picked East Carolina on Feb. 25, 2021, but guessing it fell apart somewhere along the way.
He ended up at Salt Lake City (Utah) Community College and had a good freshman year. He averaged 8.7 points and 4.9 rebounds in 16.4 minutes per game last year, starting six and appearing in 31. He shot 49.5 percent from the field, was 5 of 18 on three-pointers and 70 percent from the free-throw line. Not really a shot-blocker with 19 blocks.
Oklahoma State, TCU, UCF, UTEP, Illinois, Virginia Tech and Miami offered while in high school.
NC State and Texas A&M are his current offers.
