NC State Softball Earns Third Consecutive NCAA Regional Selection

RALEIGH, N.C. - For the first time in the history of the program, the NC State softball team will head to an NCAA Regional for the third consecutive season. The Wolfpack will be the No. 2 seed in the Harrisonburg (Va.) Regional and play third-seeded Fordham on Friday, May 15 at 2 p.m..

James Madison is the host and top seed in the regional and will face Binghamton in its first matchup at 4:30 p.m on Friday at Veterans Memorial Park. The two winners will play on Saturday, May 16 at 2 p.m., while the losers will play at 4:30 p.m.

The Pack played Fordham earlier this season at home and earned a 5-0 win at Dail Stadium. The meeting was the first between the programs. State also played Binghamton at home this year, earning a 7-0 win against the Bearcats.The Wolfpack owns a 6-1 all-time record versus James Madison and the teams last played in the 2013 NCAA Tournament at the Knoxville (Tenn.) Regional where NC State won both meetings.

NC State earns its fifth NCAA selection in the history of the program and third consecutive, which marks a first for the squad.

State finished the regular season by winning nine of its last 10 to compile an overall record of 35-20. It marks the third straight year that the Wolfpack has reached the 30-win plateau under head coach Shawn Rychcik.
