CBSSports.com writer Gary Parrish did a story on the Nike Bahamas trip that I eluded about in the Elite 24 thread, which is Nike's way of trying to get back at Under Armour's Elite 24 outdoor all-star game in Brooklyn, N.Y., on ESPNU on Aug. 22 (Edrice Adebayo will be playing in the latter).

The battle lines over the top end guys is as fierce as the days when Sonny Vaccaro was at adidas years ago. Nine players who played with Nike sponsored traveling teams were invited to the Elite 24. The other subplot is that these events are also trying to get NBA scouts to attend (Elite 24 and Bahamas trip).

Some believe the biggest reason senior power forward Harry Giles left High Point (N.C.) Wesleyan to Oak Hill Academy is due to Nike. Wesleyan is sponsored by Under Armour. Duke also thrilled that Giles won't be at Wake Forest every day this fall, with the move to OHA.
