Going into the trade deadline the big trade was the Kings sending DeMarcus Cousins and Omri Casspi to the New Orleans Pelicans for Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway and a first round pick.
So essentially Cousins for Hield and a first rounder, and the Kings tanking will help them keep their own top 10-protected first round pick from the Bulls. Kings really appeared to have been ripped off, and it shows what other NBA teams think about Cousins' "intangibles."
The other trade of note earlier in the season was the Cavaliers sending a 2019 first-round pick for Kyle Korver, which I like for both teams. Korver will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Now today, it's another former Kentucky big man on the move. Nerlens Noel, the brother of former NC State linebacker Rodman Noel, was dealt from the 76ers for former Virginia wing Justin Anderson, center Andrew Bogut and a top 18 protected first-round pick, which will likely turn into two second round picks since the Mavericks won't likely finish with a draft spot after 19. Bogut is getting bought out and will be a free agent for a playoff team to add (perhaps Boston).
I am not crazy about Noel, but wow, getting just Justin Anderson and probably two seconds. Hard to believe what Philly has turned down in the past for him. It's smart for Dallas, who had Tyson Chandler play center for years, and I'm sure they see some similarities.
