Went to see PD play Cannon School last night. PD features PG Devon Dotson and Cannon features SF Jarius Hamilton both the Class of 2018. Clemson coach Brad Brownell was in the house also. PD beat Cannon by pulling away in the 4Q.

On Dotson...I would say a smaller version of DSJ since his build is very similar. Dotson is a true PG and one thing that stood out was that Dotson guarded Hamilton for most of the game. Dotson is nifty with the ball and knows how to run a team. It is very strong at going to the basket and actually has a very nice 3 pt shot. On offense he showed no "in between" last night. PD only has one SR and for some of the name schools they have beaten they are small. They obviously ride the shoulders of Dotson and fellow guard Trey Wertz who is not shy at all.

On Hamilton...once he takes off the warmups you know he is the man. The kid has a very good body and can jump and has a pretty good handle. Cannon does not play quite as disciplined as PD. FWIW, they often times do not showcase Hamilton. He scored most of his points around the rim, has a good mid range game and can hit the "3" but he needs work there. He actually guarded the Wertz kid for most of the game. I actually thought he could have done a better job rebounding but it was tough to gauge since he defended Wertz (and Dotson) on the perimeter most of the night.

Both of these kids are ACC caliber and depending on the situation could be starters as FR. Sure they have some flaws but as far as talent and maturity they are top flight BB recruits.

Cannon had a kid, Qon Murphy that was the most fearless and toughest kid on the floor. I could see him at a VCU or another college similar and carving out quite a niche.

From the Charlotte Observer...
Providence Day’s junior trio: In a 59-51 win over Cannon -- the Chargers’ 36th straight regular-season CISAA conference win -- Devon Dotson had 27 points, four rebounds, three assists; Trey Wertz had 17 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, four blocks; and Isaac Suffren had six points and 11 rebounds. With five league games left, Providence Day has a two-game lead as it hunts a fifth straight conference title. Coaches from Clemson, Davidson, Kansas, N.C. State, Old Dominion and Wake Forest attended the game, which featured seven Division I recruits. Cannon juniors Jairus Hamilton and Qon Murphy combined for 47 points.
