I've been following the Michigan cheating scandal from a distance, but wouldn't say I've read a lot about it. I'm sure I'm not alone on that. What I do know is that you have 13 other Big Ten schools who want Michigan punished. Some of it could be the letter of the rules, and some just don't like coach Jim Harbaugh and his persona much, even though nothing has been directly linked to Harbaugh, but the rules state he is still in charge of the people he hires.

Then on the other side is Fox, who will do everything they can to make sure Michigan isn't punished in a way that could affect TV rating for key games or the Big Ten championship game. Michigan with a win over Ohio State most likely makes the playoffs and could be the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in a four-team playoff.

Then you have a segment of people who just don't think it is that big a deal to break that particular rule, which was created in the mid-1990s to stop schools who have more money to spend.

You also have the whole angle of will the multiple scandals chase Harbaugh to the NFL, similar to when Oregon was in trouble and Chip Kelly left for the league.

Then on top of all that, it came out today that a Michigan staffer got caught buying alcohol for a meeting with a 13-year-old girl, though it was men masquerading as a girl to catch pedophiles.
