Diakite was not the UVA MVP but his eye poke was their play of the game.
When DJ went out we were down 6 with the ball and UVA went on a 11-4 run in just over 3 minutes and then his immediate turnover on his early return led to a Guy 3 to take it to 57-41. DJwas never the same and the team wasn’t either. I’m kind of shocked that the game stories by ESPN don’t mention this event at all.
It was an inadvertent basketball injury but it sure made a difference.
