Pretty exciting game with Leesville Road pulling off the upset in overtime, 72-68, against Raleigh Millbrook. The place was packed and I wouldn't be surprised if people got turned away. NC State coach Kevin Keatts took in the action.
Junior point guard Carter Whitt scored 21 points for Leesville Road. His outside shooting has improved, but he missed some very deep three-pointers. Junior Jalen McDonald was out of sync, but did have one incredible dunk. Whenever he gets more comfortable after transferring in from Knightdale High, that will help out Whitt.
Memphis is the latest school to jump in with Whitt and they like him for either the class of 2020 or his current class of 2021.
Millbrook junior forward Eric van der Heijden shot very well and is a smart passer. He hit the game-tying three-pointer to make it at 61-61 before overtime. At 6-8, 205 pounds, he has the length to play power forward, but he'll need to get stronger.
