"Offense
N.C. State put together one of the nation’s most balanced offenses in 2014, passing for 2,652 yards and rushing for 2,659. The 2015 edition of the Wolfpack should be able to match those numbers with all the key elements returning.
Senior quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who is dangerous passing and running, will trigger the unit. But Brissett has plenty of support with all-star candidates like David Grinnage at tight end, and Shadrach Thornton and Matt Dayes at running back. Throw in heralded freshmen backs like Reggie Gallaspy plus a veteran blocking corps and this has the potential to be one of the most dangerous offenses in the ACC this season.
N.C. State does need one or two players in its receiving corps, such as junior Bra’Lon Cherry, to step up for this to be a complete offensive package. This is where freshmen like Nyheim Hines, Brian Sessoms or Freddie Simmons could make an impact.
Defense
Experience and depth are abundant on N.C. State’s defense. Eight starters and 23 players who lettered last season return, including the entire secondary. Two of those players are graduate students: cornerback Juston Burris, who has made 30 career starts and safety Hakim Jones, last year’s leading tackler with 80 hits.
Senior end Mike Rose heads a front line where some of the Wolfpack’s best young talent resides. Sophomore tackle B.J. Hill should be an all-star candidate along with Rose this season. But others like sophomore ends Bradley Chubb and Pharoah McKever, sophomore tackle Kentavious Street and freshman end Darian Roseboro have great potential.
The return of junior M.J. Salahuddin from a knee injury that shelved him for the entire 2014 season will be a boost to the linebacker corps."
