Greensboro (N.C.) Page senior wide receiver Diondre Overton is debating on when he wants to pick a college. He could wait until Jan. 3 and do it on television at the Semper Fidelis Bowl in the Los Angeles area. Or he might just get to that point where he pulls the trigger. My gut says it's in NC State's best interest to wait, and he'll likely be at the Clemson at NC State game Oct. 31. Whether he'll take an official visit that weekend is still up in the air.
Overton has been to Clemson and Tennessee probably 3-4 times apiece. The Tigers might show more patience with him than the Volunteers. Nebraska and UNC round out the list, but Alabama is looming and an offer from the Crimson Tide would change things.
The 6-foot-5, 194-pound receiver is exactly what NC State wants to get to complement the smaller receivers it has added in recent years. He's a natural even though Friday was just his 15th high school football game. We'll have his video highlights coming out this week, and also a story with his prep coach in the near future.
