It's almost that time of year. Thought y'all might enjoy some of these. Beginning with the Kerliner game in the acc tournament... right through the championship game vs Houston. Most recordings are full-game, couple of partials. And kudos to whoever went to the trouble to Youtube all these! You'll see Dinky Procter's career end in the 2nd half of the Kerliner game. In a few games you'll hear a very subdued, and almost unrecognizable Dick Vitale. And with hindsight in our favor, some of the commentary in these games is really interesting.
I was a senior in '83. What a great time to be a student! Practically every game needing a comeback and going down to the wire. We got wrongly labeled a "Cinderella"... where as "Cardiac Pack" was way more appropriate. We were a very good ball team. Before Whit was hurt we had been ranked as high as 14, I think... so those 10 losses were a bit deceiving. It wasn't so much that we were overcoming against tremendously better teams, though that was the perception, the amazing part was how we kept coming back game after game from seemingly unsurmountable deficits... "Never give up! Never ever give up!" And then came Houston... "and elephants tap-danced"... Enjoy!!!
Could not find game 3 vs Utah... ??? We won 75-56 !!!
Or you can skip the details and watch the summary from V himself...
Finally, a local news report on the game and CELEBRATION!
