Four-star running back Will Shipley of Weddington High in Matthews, N.C.
Had a chance to have a nice chat with Shipley. NC State went by his school as soon as it could along with eight other programs on the first day. Shipley admitted to me that his best relationship with any coach was with Des Kitchings, but he stressed he is not going to pick a school because of a coach alone. He's started to tell some schools he does not see himself there. NC State is still in it.
Three-star offensive tackle Michael Gonzalez of Sun Valley High in Monroe
Gonzalez listed NC State as one of the schools that he has a good relationship with, and that's one recruit where there has not been much change with his recruiters (which is a factor right now as a lot of these recruits are starting anew). Gonzalez came for the Louisville game last fall and was going to junior day today (he was not on our list of expected visitors so a positive development).
Four-star athlete DeAndre Boykins of Central Cabarrus High in Concord
Boykins showed up late for the photo shoot. Like his older brother, DeAndre is a man of few words as an interview. NC State has been by his school already since the dead period ended, however. That said, one gets the impression the Boykins is much more inclined towards the bigger brand programs.
