One area of the recruiting board that has been expanding in recent weeks was offensive line. Here are some new names to watch at offensive tackle. Most of them, with the exception of Kearns and possibly Chase, are likely camp players who would get a close evaluation from offensive line coach Mike Uremovich at that point.

Patrick Kearns, Rome (Ga.) Darlington High

Kearns picked up an offer this week from NC State. He has reportedly gained in the neighborhood of 75 pounds over the past year, an incredible growth spurt that has seen his recruitment take off. Central Florida offered Kearns just after NCSU did, joining Illinois, Syracuse, Cincinnati and Air Force among Kearns’ notable offers.

Jack Doyle, Wake Forest (N.C.) Heritage High

Reputedly a technically sound, well-coached tackle who is the younger brother of Maryland’s Ryan Doyle. Key for Jack Doyle is showing some size growth. His brother went from 250 to 300 when he arrived at College Park.

Kollin Byers, Shelby (N.C.) Crest High

In a lot of ways, Byers is similar to Doyle. Undersized (6-foot-5, 235 pounds) but impressive techniques and plays for one of the best programs in the state of North Carolina.

Tyler Watson, Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton High

Like Doyle, Watson needs to prove he can continue to grow, but Watson was solid at the Rivals.com Camp Series presented by Under Armour stop in Charlotte last month. Central Florida is probably Watson (6-foot-5, 255 pounds) most notable offer at this point, and he has a host of mid-majors like Georgia Southern, Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Ohio and Western Kentucky. Wake Forest has expressed serious interest as well.

Adam Raschilla, Northport (Ala.) Tuscaloosa County High

Reportedly Raschilla’s lone offer is Samford, but he has been well-traveled on the recruiting trail and is receiving a lot of interest from schools. He tweeted this week that he’s had a couple of recent conversations with NCSU. Our guess is that Raschilla will likely be asked to camp to get an offer.

Justin Chase, Chesapeake (Va.) Great Bridge High

Not much has been reported on Chase, but we have heard that Chase is a name on NCSU’s board. We are hoping to get more information on the 6-foot-6, 270-pounder soon, but according to Rivals, Chase has offers from Appalachian State, East Carolina, James Madison and Old Dominion. He reputedly has an impressive frame. He unofficially visited NC State in February when the Pack hosted quite a few prospects from the state of Virginia for a junior day.

The main purpose of the Florida and Georgia recruiting blitzes were to get a head start on some out-of-state underclassmen since the 2016 class is likely to be one of the smallest that NCSU has signed in recent memory. That said, there were a few new offers doled out during their swing.

We already detailed Kearns as well as tight end Dylan Autenrieth from Dallas (Ga.) North Paulding High on the board and linebacker Greg Simmons from Fort Pierce (Fla.) Central High. Autenrieth (6-foot-4, 215 pounds) also has an offer from Pittsburgh among others.

Simmons made an early verbal commitment to Miami, but when schools like Nebraska, North Carolina State and Louisville all extend recent offers, that is usually indicative of the prospect letting schools know that he is still considering his options.

NCSU also reportedly offered Deon Edwards from Minneola (Fla.) Lake Minneola High. The 6-foot, 195-pounder had been sitting on offers from Missouri and South Carolina previously.

NC State also tendered linebacker Tyrone Hopper from Roswell (Ga.) High. Hopper has visited NC State previously, but he also sports an impressive offer list that includes, among others, Kentucky, Louisville, Tennessee, UNC, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Wisconsin. Hopper also impressed Rivals scouts at the recent Charlotte stop on the Rivals Camp Series presented by Under Armour, and he is rated by Rivals as the No. 53 player in Georgia and No. 47 outside linebacker nationally.

May tends to yield a commitment or two over the years, and there are several players that we continue to watch:

Tight end Garrett Walston, Wilmington (N.C.) New Hanover High
Linebacker/defensive end LaRonde Liverpool, Virginia Beach (Va.) Landstown High
Defensive end Jimmie Taylor, Jacksonville (N.C.) Southwest Onslow High
Defensive back Carlos Becker, Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola High
Wide receiver Chavis Dawkins, Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes High

The latter two names (Becker and Dawkins) may be less likely than the other three.
