A little summary of what coach Mark Gottfried said following the loss at Virginia:
Gottfried said Virginia deserved to be the story of the game, and not NC State. He called UVa "terrific."
Gottfried said they doubled almost every ball screen, and tried to cut off penetration opportunities for Anthony Barber. He called Barber’s first half his worst half of basketball this season. He was encouraged that it was 31-31 at halftime considering how Barber had played.
He said the bottom fell out in the second half and Virginia played like the top 10 team that they are after halftime. He credited London Perrantes’ three-pointers and what Brogdon did as the key.
Gottfried liked the looks his shooters got and they simply missed wide-open shots. It was just a struggle to score the ball.
Gottfried completely shot down the idea that his team got tired. He couldn’t think of a half where the team played that poorly. They’ll be “flushing that half out.”
