NC State has verbal commitments from:
Tight end Dylan Autenrieth, Dallas (Ga.) North Paulding High
Offensive lineman Kollin Byers, Shelby (N.C.) Crest High
Athlete Bryce Dixon, Cary (N.C.) Green Hope High
Offensive lineman Bryce Folsom, Alpharetta (Ga.) Chattahoochee High
Guard/center Harrison Gee, Burlington (N.C.) Williams High
Safety Tim Glass, Danville (Va.) Lynchburg Liberty Christian Academy
Linebacker Garrett Hooker, Thomasville (N.C.) Ledford High
Linebacker Brock Miller, Ft. Pierce (Fla.) John Carroll High
Quarterback Dylan Parham, Southeast Raleigh High
Guard/center Joe Sculthorpe, Hampstead (N.C.) Topsail High
Wide receiver Daeshawn Stephens, Durham (N.C.) Hillside High
Cornerback James Valdez, Orangeburg (S.C.) Wilkinson High
Offensive lineman Justin Witt, New Lenox (Ill.) Lincoln-Way West High
Here is a list of the top 20 prospects on NC State’s recruiting board in order of our opinion of the likelihood that NC State will land the recruit.
It does not reflect the opinion of NC State’s football staff and is for discussion purposes only.
1. Wide receiver Chavis Dawkins, Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes High
Not much different with Dawkins (not surprisingly as typically there is not much movement in recruiting during the month of August). State remains Dawkins’ most viable power five conference option.
Previous ranking: 1
Prediction: NC State
2. Wide receiver Myles Dorn, Charlotte Vance High
The feeling remains that Dorn’s top three are NC State, Wake Forest and North Carolina with the Pack in front, but Dorn seems intent on deciding things on his own timeline.
Previous ranking: 2
Prediction: NC State
3. Cornerback Carlos Becker, Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola High
Becker has set up official visits to Wisconsin, Iowa State and NC State. We’ve always felt that Kentucky was State’s biggest threat, so the fact that they have not gotten an OV set up yet could be a good sign.
Previous ranking: 3
Prediction: NC State
4. Safety Isaiah Stallings, Fayetteville (N.C.) Terry Sanford High
Stallings plays his recruitment close to the vest, so having him as high as No. 4 could be a leap of faith, but multiple sources indicate that the Pack seems to be in a good spot for him. Can they close the deal?
Previous ranking: 4
Prediction: NC State
5. Athlete Brett Shepherd, Buford (Ga.) High
We re-added Shepherd to the list this week after getting indications that NC State is still on him. We cannot confirm that with 100 percent accuracy yet, but we know that State both really liked Shepherd before the two tight ends committed and would love to get a player from Buford High, one of the better talent-producing schools in Georgia.
Previous ranking: Unranked
Prediction: NC State
6. Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, Wake Forest (N.C.) High
Looks like Lawrence is making room in his schedule to visit Clemson later this month. Quietly, a top five of Alabama, Clemson, Florida, NC State and North Carolina could be emerging.
Previous ranking: 5
Prediction: NC State
7. Wide receiver C.J. Riley, Coconut Creek (Fla.) North Broward High
Rob Cassidy from Rivals.com is one of the better reporters in the business and he got a vibe that NC State could have a slight edge over Nebraska. With that in mind, we moved Riley up slightly.
Previous ranking: 8
Prediction: Nebraska/NC State (previously just Nebraska)
8. Wide receiver Andrew Parshman, Weston (Fla.) Cypress Bay
From the sounds of it, it appears that Parshman has an interest in taking a visit to NC State after picking up an offer from the Pack. If State pushes hard enough in the fall, it is difficult to see him sticking with his Cincinnati pledge over NCSU.
Previous ranking: 7
Prediction: Cincinnati (for now)
9. Defensive back Henry Miller, Kissimmee (Fla.) Gateway High
Miller is a tough one to project because we have a sneaky suspicion that the Pack is stronger here than some may realize/believe.
Previous ranking: 6
Prediction: Michigan State
10. Wide receiver Kelvin Harmon, Palmyra (N.J.) High
Harmon made an unofficial visit to Rutgers this week, but the Knights are running third here. South Carolina leads, but NC State will host Harmon for an official visit for the season opener against Troy.
Previous ranking: 9
Prediction: South Carolina
