NC State has verbal commitments from:

Tight end Dylan Autenrieth, Dallas (Ga.) North Paulding High
Athlete Bryce Dixon, Cary (N.C.) Green Hope High
Offensive lineman Bryce Folsom, Alpharetta (Ga.) Chattahoochee High
Guard/center Harrison Gee, Burlington (N.C.) Williams High
Safety Tim Glass, Danville (Va.) Lynchburg Liberty Christian Academy
Linebacker Garrett Hooker, Thomasville (N.C.) Ledford High
Quarterback Dylan Parham, Southeast Raleigh High
Guard/center Joe Sculthorpe, Hampstead (N.C.) Topsail High
Defensive tackle Kobe Smith, Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer High
Cornerback James Valdez, Orangeburg (S.C.) Wilkinson High
Offensive lineman Justin Witt, New Lenox (Ill.) Lincoln-Way West High

Here is a list of the top 25 prospects on NC State’s recruiting board in order of our opinion of the likelihood that NC State will land the recruit.

It does not reflect the opinion of NC State’s football staff and is for discussion purposes only.

1. Wide receiver Myles Dorn, Charlotte Vance High
Not a whole lot new on Dorn at this point. We hope to get an update on Dorn this weekend to get a better understanding on favorites and timeline, but we continue to believe the Pack sits in a very strong position.
Previous ranking: 1
Prediction: NC State

2. Cornerback Carlos Becker, Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola High
Like we said last week, we thought Kentucky was NCSU’s top competition, but Florida is beginning to make a push as well.
Previous ranking: 2
Prediction: NC State

3. Wide receiver Chavis Dawkins, Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes High
Latest indications on Dawkins is that he appears to be willing to wait it out some before making a decision. Paul Strelow from Tiger Illustrated talked with his coach last Friday for us and was told that Dawkins is in no rush. Louisville and Wake Forest are also in the mix.
Previous ranking: 3
Prediction: NC State

4. Wide receiver C.J. Riley, Coconut Creek (Fla.) North Broward High
We noted last week that Riley was supposed to take some trips in July, and it appears that is happening with visits to NC State and Kentucky already this week. Riley is a high character, strong academic recruit who has the length (6-foot-4 with good vertical) that the Pack is looking for in this cycle.
Previous ranking: 6
Prediction: NC State

5. Safety Isaiah Stallings, Fayetteville (N.C.) Terry Sanford High
Like Dorn, we hope to get a better feel for Stallings this weekend. We get a sense that Duke and South Carolina could be the chief competition for Stallings, but he has not updated his recruitment for a while.
Previous ranking: 5
Prediction: NC State

6. Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, Wake Forest (N.C.) High
We did hear from one source this week who believed that UNC, and not Clemson, has now emerged as NC State’s top challenger but that the Pack has the edge given the Heels’ defensive coaching changes over the offseason that has left them playing catchuip.
Previous ranking: 7
Prediction: NC State

7. Offensive tackle Patrick Kearns, Rome (Ga.) Darlington High
Basically, this is how we believe it breaks down for Kearns. For NC State, we think Kearns may have the best relationship with the coaches. For Georgia Tech, proximity (big for parents) and academics play in their favor. For Virginia Tech, the small-town, country Kearns may feel most comfortable in Blacksburg. Kentucky is a wildcard but we think they’ll need a big visit this weekend to get into the mix. A decision should come before the month is over.
Previous ranking: 8
Prediction: Virginia Tech (previously Georgia Tech)

8. Wide receiver Divine Deablo, Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mt. Tabor High
NC State is hoping to make a big move on Deablo on July 24 when he is expected to be in Raleigh. The first time Deablo visited Raleigh (back in May), NCSU made a huge push up the leaderboard. VT has emerged as the hot team in Deablo’s recruitment.
Previous ranking: 10
Prediction: Virginia Tech

9. Linebacker Brock Miller, Fort Pierce (Fla.) John Carroll High
A report on 247Sports indicates that Miller will be visiting NC State on July 23 followed by Virginia Tech and Virginia. That would be Miller’s second trip to Raleigh, and he has lived previously in Charlotte. It will be his first trips to the Virginia schools. We think Virginia Tech and Kentucky are the top competition for Miller. Like Kearns, we would not be shocked if Miller decides before July is over.
Previous ranking: 13
Prediction: Unknown

10. Linebacker Donta Evans, Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer High
ESPN’s Gerry Hamilton’s tweet of Evans’ top five that did not include NC State (and Auburn for that matter) caught us off guard. Checked with one source who said that his top five was quite different from previous ones, too. Thus we dropped him to No. 10 until we get a better feel for what’s up. Evans will decide apparently on Aug. 2. Word is NC State does not know if he will be at the Wolfpack Warrior camp next Friday or not.
Previous ranking: 4
Prediction: Unknown

11. Receiver Kelvin Harmon, Palmyra (N.J.) High
As we have said the past couple of weeks, South Carolina has the edge and it may be a sizeable one at this point, with NC State a solid No. 2 in the race for the four-star.
Previous ranking: 11
Prediction: South Carolina

12. Offensive lineman Ashton Julious, Scranton (Pa.) Lackawanna Junior College
If the Pack misses on Kearns, they may make an all-out effort on Julious. However, South Carolina’s recent offer could make that more difficult. It appears Baylor, our previous projection, has cooled on Julious. He has set up an official visit to Oklahoma
Previous ranking: 12
Prediction: South Carolina (previously Baylor)

13. Defensive end Patrick Jones, Chesapeake (Va.) Grassfield High
A top four of Duke, NC State, Virginia and Virginia Tech has emerged for Jones, who may visit NCSU before the month is over. He is expected to announce at some point in August.
Previous ranking: 14
Prediction: Duke

14. Athlete Brett Shepherd, Buford (Ga.) High
NC State wanted two tight ends and they got it in the 2015 class, but Shepherd is a talented athlete who could play both sides of the ball. We get a sense that NCSU likes Shepherd enough to continue recruiting him, especially if they lose out on Evans and Miller at linebacker.
Previous ranking: 15
Prediction: Unknown

15. Wide receiver Diondre Overton, Greensboro (N.C.) Page High
Overton is visiting Tennessee this weekend. The key for State is that Overton comes out of this trip not feeling that he is ready to make a decision and thus wants to take some more visits.
Previous ranking: 16
Prediction: Clemson
