Junior center Edrice Adebayo scored 37 points, grabbed 23 rebounds and blocked seven shots to lead Pinetown Northside to a 66-62 win over Durham Voyager in NCHSAA 1A regional semifinal.

NC State coach Mark Gottfried arrived in the second quarter and there were assistants from Duke, North Carolina and Clemson, to see the game. Fayetteville Trinity star junior point guard Dennis Smith Jr. came to watch Adebayo play.

Adebayo went 13 of 23 from the field and 11 of 19 at the line. He missed two big ones at the line and Voyager came down and hit a 3-pointer to force overtime. Other than that, he just methodically overcame a slow start (11 and 8 boards at half) and went about his business. He had a couple of wow dunks but nothing crazy.

Junior power forward Jay Huff gave Adebayo trouble early with his length, blocking him four times. Then Huff got some ticky-tack calls and eventually fouled out in just 17 minutes of action. Voyager's second best player also fouled out and they were on fumes in overtime.

It is hard to evaluate Huff. He ended up blocking Adebayo at least 5 times but after hitting an early 3-pointer, he was a non-factor on offense.

Northside plays at 4 p.m. Saturday against the winner of East Carteret and Weldon. He obviously won't be at Syracuse at NC State game, and will play it by ear with Duke at North Carolina he said.
