NC State coach Dave Doeren said it was a bad call to try and do what he called an in-between kickoff. Marshall had a different alignment and if kickoff specialist Collin Smith had kicked it to the right area, it would have created a scramble for the ball, but Smith couldn't pull it off. They had practiced it all week.
