Kenan stadium was funded by William R Kenan, Jr., and named to honor his father. After folks remembered our history, and Kenan, Sr.’s participation, the powers-that-be in Chapel Hill declared that henceforth the stadium was named in honor of Kenan, Jr. Problem solved (?). https://alumni.unc.edu/news/unc-to-remove-kenan-sr-name-from-stadium-plaque/
