Washington (D.C.) Sidwell Friends senior small forward Saddiq Bey is the odd man out.

According to a pair of sources, he didn't hear from NC State after assistant coach A.W. Hamilton got hired at Eastern Kentucky on March 23, his principle recruiter. A source said after a month of silence he asked out of his letter of intent on April 26. NC State didn't want to release him right away, so the Wolfpack told him he'd have to wait until May 25, which is when the dead period ends. It is also a very unusual stipulation. In the mean time, his scholarship has been used with today's landing of sophomore post player Sacha Killeya-Jones of Kentucky.

A third source thought Bey wanted to wait to until the spring semester was over to make a final decision on NC State, but with the Wolfpack filling up the roster, that theory has gone out the window.

The 6-foot-6, 185-pound Bey was the Wolfpack's highest ranked recruit at No. 118 overall in the class of 2018 by Rivals.com. I didn't think he'd play that much next year, but in theory he was the classic program guy who would get better each year. If NC State is going to heavily rely on transfers on a year-to-year basis, losing Bey might not really matter much in the big scheme of things.
