Help me welcome a new partner of TheWolfpacker.com, Adam Goldman, owner of FranchiseCoach.net.

NC State first popped onto Adam’s radar when Jimmy V led the Cardiac Pack on its Cinderella run through the 1983 NCAA Tournament and he’s kept a close eye on the Wolfpack ever since.

In 2010, Adam engaged a franchise coach to explore a few options out of the 4,000 brands in 75 industries. He chose an office cleaning concept which he was able to build to 400 buildings cleaned in the Houston area and 40 franchisees. Adam recently sold the business to a strategic buyer.

For the past four years, Adam has helped prospective franchisees navigate the complex world of franchising. His FREE SERVICE helps them narrow their focus down to the three brands that best match them. His process saves his clients time by broadening their focus to include brands that they originally weren't considering but match them best.

"My Dad came home from his corporate job drained daily and he would have really benefited as a franchisee,” Adam said. "He has great management and people skills, he just needed a simplified process around him to become an entrepreneur. I get excited every day helping prospective business owners escape Corporate America and to follow their dreams by becoming franchisees.”

During our conversation this week with three-star defensive end Nick Campbell from Minneola (Fla.) Lake Minneola High, we could not help but get an impression that NC State may be emerging as a quiet leader despite a relatively late entrant for the 6-foot-3, 255-pounder.

Campbell is itching to make a decision. As noted in our story we released Thursday evening, Campbell was intending to originally decide on Super Bowl Sunday.

We’re not prepared to say if Campbell makes his visit to Raleigh for a self-guided tour this Saturday as expected that we should put Campbell on commit watch, but we had a distinct vibe that this trip was almost like a visit where the Campbell family is seeking reassurance that NC State would be the right move.

Quarterback recruiting is a position that still has to work itself out. The best development for NC State right now would be if Florida State were to land a commitment later this month from four-star A.J. Duffy, who would give the Noles its second and final QB commit in the class.

Duffy is believed to be deciding between his early leader Arizona State and the Seminoles. Duffy ending up at FSU is important because four-star MJ Morris from Atlanta (Ga.) Pace is the Wolfpack’s top target at quarterback right now, and Morris is favoring Florida State, too.

But if we doing a mock football recruiting class right now, we would have to leave the QB slot blank. Our guess is NC State is going to aggressively evaluate quarterbacks this spring, and there is a chance that the NCAA may allow in-person workouts soon, perhaps as early as June.

One interesting name out there is Donovan Leary. Yes, he is the younger brother of NC State redshirt sophomore starter Devin Leary.

The younger Leary has interesting physical upside with reputedly arm strength that rivals his older brother and better size at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds.

Leary was recently offered by Illinois, and there’s an obvious connection with former Pack receivers coach George McDonald now with the Illini. McDonald was the lead recruiter for Devin Leary at NC State.

Most of the younger Leary’s recruitment has been at the mid-major level. He listed in a recent Rivals.com story Colorado State, Old Dominion and Toledo as three programs on him hard prior to the Illinois offer.

Part of the reason may have been Leary having a challenging junior season following a coaching change at Timber Creek High in Sicklerville, N.J.

After completing 63.3 percent of his passes as a sophomore for 3,054 yards and 28 touchdowns with 10 picks, he was successful on 51.2 percent of attempts for 996 yards and five scores with seven interceptions in six games this past fall.

Our guess is the Pack may take two receivers in this class. It’s certain to lose seniors Emeka Emezie and C.J. Riley, and we’ve had people tell us that redshirt junior Thayer Thomas is actually one of the sleeper NFL Draft prospects on the team.

Thomas is purely a slot receiver but he will impress scouts with his athleticism, especially in the shuttle, we are told. There’s a ceiling to how high receivers like Thomas could go in the draft. He’s seen it up close, with former Miami receiver and Raleigh native Braxton Berrios getting picked in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Hence if Thomas does get onto the NFL radar, as someone playing his fifth year in college next season he would probably be obligated to seriously consider it.

As for recruiting at receiver, after talking with both Greensboro (N.C.) Dudley’s Mehki Wall and fast-rising Raleigh Millbrook’s Wesley Grimes, we would have those two in our mock class if we did one. Wall went as far as to admit the Pack is in his top three at the moment, and that he communicates with new receivers coach Joker Phillips on a daily basis.

The Pack has a strong proximity advantage with Grimes, who has been around Carter-Finley Stadium quite a bit.

The two would complement each other well. Wall is a speedster who could return kicks while Grimes is a taller prospect at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds.

One thing to consider at running back recruiting is there is a preference towards explosive play-making abilities, which is why four-star Michael Allen from Greenville (N.C.) Rose High has been at the top of the board since last fall.

NC State is in a good position with Allen, who is an exceptional athlete, but there is a lot of time left in his recruitment.

Ever since enjoying the success of Nyheim Hines in 2017, NC State has been looking for similar type running backs. That’s why players like Zonovan Knight and Jordan Houston were targeted.

Throw in that offensive coordinator Tim Beck likes versatile and athletic running backs in his offense, and you can see why Allen is a priority.
