It’s been a while since we have updated our top 25 list, but for this War Room we decided to give an update on what the top 10 would look like at the moment:

1. Running back Bennett Galloway, Chapin (S.C.) High

This makes an assumption that NC State will make room for Galloway in a two-running back class, and if it does, barring another Power Five offer it’s hard to imagine Galloway picking anyone but NC State. He had a good visit this past week on Monday.

2. Four-star defensive lineman Brandon Cleveland,Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day

Cleveland is supposed to announce his decision this afternoon on Instagram. NC State has long maintained contact with Cleveland, even during his commitment to Miami. The Pack was one of the schools, at the time Oregon was another, that Cleveland maintained a line of communications.

When Miami had a change of defensive line coaches, that really opened the door. Cleveland and Miami had what could be described as a mutual parting of the ways. NC State has been the mainstay here. Florida State kicked the tires a bit in May, and Virginia and California made pushes in June, but nearly everyone expects Cleveland to end up at NC State.

That said, there are times we know it’s going to happen and times we feel strongly it’ll happen. This is more the latter.

3. Three-star defensive lineman Davin Jackson, Sumter (S.C.) High

The 6-foot-2, 260-pounder realistically has a top two of NC State and South Carolina. There was concern about the Gamecocks’ offer earlier in June, but for the time being Jackson is continuing to give vibes that the Pack is in a very good position. Then comes the question? How many defensive linemen will NC State try to take. A source told us the plan was two, but there might be flexibility for a third.

4. Defensive end Vincent Anthony, Durham (N.C.) Jordan High

Similar situation to Jackson in the sense that if Cleveland were to pick NC State, what does that leave the defensive line board? The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder looked good enough at the Wolfpack’s camp to earn an offer, and his offer list (Duke, Georgia Tech, Indiana and Ole Miss, among others) would lead you to believe that the Wolfpack would be in a strong position if it went all-out.

5. Three-star receiver Wesley Grimes, Raleigh Millbrook High

NC State has had nice in-state momentum. The question is will that carry over with Grimes? He never made it back to campus after his early-June visit, but while that is notable we would also caution into reading too much into that. Grimes has been to NC State plenty of times and knows players around the program. We are not aware of Grimes making multiple visits in June to other programs.

It tends to be a mixed bag around Grimes. Some think NC State could be a player, others think it’ll be Wake Forest unless a UNC, Clemson or Notre Dame come around with an offer.

6. Three-star offensive lineman Isaiah Montgomery, Virginia Beach (Va.) Landstown High

If NC State was looking for someone who would more of a guard, it probably is all in on Montgomery. What we have to wait and see is do they view Montgomery, 6-foot-4, 285 pounds, as a potential tackle target. Pittsburgh is a strong contender here, too, and Illinois may be a wildcard.

7. Offensive lineman Jalen Klemm, Gibsonia (Pa.) Pine Richland High

We’ve been trying to reach Klemm, but what we know is that NC State appears to have a little bit of momentum with a player that they offered June 11. Klemm is a project that the Wolfpack is thinking could prove to be a steal at offensive tackle after playing mainly defensive line in high school. His stock is rising. Since May 25, he has been offered by Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Nebraska, Vanderbilt and Washington State, among others.

If there is a sleeper on this list, the 6-foot-5, 260-pound Klemm might be it.

8. Three-star offensive tackle Cason Henry, Marietta (Ga.) Walton High

If Henry was deciding today, the Pack would probably be a long shot. What the Pack has going for it though is Henry, for now, appears to be willing to be patient. That could theoretically open the door for NC State to gain ground if he waits long enough and other contenders drop off after filling up. The Wolfpack at the moment appear to have a board set up that can afford it to be patient with someone like Henry, a 6-foot-6, 300-pounder who visited last week along with UNC and South Carolina.

9. Three-star offensive tackle Andre Roye, Baltimore (Md.) St Frances

New NC State receivers coach Joker Phillips has a strong connection to St. Frances, and NC State has made Roye’s top six. But until he steps foot on campus for a visit it realistically is a long shot. Maryland and Penn State may be the two teams to watch for the 6-foot-6, 320-pounder.

10. Three-star linebacker R Mason Thomas, Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons

NC State loved what it saw from Thomas at its summer camp and is trying to get on the board with him, but as we noted previously the traction has been hard to gain. He might have been too far down the line on his recruitment to stop whatever commitment he makes this summer, but the Pack may have hope that he will keep lines of communications open.
