Football Media access coming up...

Scheduling note...

NC State running back Kendrick Raphael will be the lone player/assistant coach this week. No availability Wednesday, and then coach Dave Doeren for 5-8 minutes Thursday.

Next week before the California game, there will be Doeren's normal Zoom press conference Monday, and then just whoever they send Tuesday, and that closes things for the week.

There won't be a Monday press conference Oct. 21 with the bye week.

Recruiting NC State interested in a juco linebacker...

NC State was very aggressive in the junior college market last year, and new addition recruiting staffer Alex Faulk has extensive contacts among the junior colleges in Mississippi.

NC State is keeping tabs on 6-2, 220-pound outside linebacker La Kendrick James of Copiah-Lincoln C.C. in Wesson, MIss., who is verbally committed to Mississippi State.

Until we become a performance based program instead of ...

Until this staff becomes one that bases playing time on what you deliver on the field instead of who they trust from an experience standpoint, we will continue to be what we are, which is just another middle of the conference team. For this staff to continue to play guys at certain positions who simply are not producing results, just because they have played X number of games in the past, is idiotic. Tim McKay is being beaten regularly at the RG spot, yet time and time again he is the guy we are putting out there. Our LB play continues to be below what is needed, yet the same guys are given the snaps. A White is over and over again being beaten in pass coverage for easy completions and his run support is non-existent, yet he continues to get snaps. Where is the accountability and how are snaps being given? It certainly isn't about what guys are putting on tape in games.

Recruiting Reclassing for college football has arrived...

College basketball has had players reclass for years but the physical toll is much different in hoops than football. It just isn't as common. I know Cary (N.C.) High senior tight end Gus Ritchey considered it. With the Imps winless, maybe he wishes he had.

But whether it is the affect of Alabama freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams, but three players just recently announced they'll be reclassing from 2026 to 2025. All have NC State offers and been on campus, with two picking colleges already. Is it a trend with staying power? I don't know as it's such a big jump in football.
