Remember we almost landed this kid as a mid year transfer before he chose WV? Well, the NCAA denied his waiver to play at WV this year. We did ok not wasting that scholoarship and picking up Miranda instead.

Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage and NC State senior commit Daemon Fagan are playing Miami Central tonight in the title game at 7p.m. tonight. NC State also has offered Missouri commit Shamar McNeil and freshman wide receiver Malachi Toney from American Heritage.

You see many players opting out of minor and major bowl games now, but this is the first time I've seen a player opt-out of a playoff game. I suppose it will become more common in the future.

There was some questions remaining on whether Mady Traore of France might stick things out and join NC State this summer. He has elected to try and find a new college for the second semester.

Traore needed to pass his language exam by Jan. 1 in order to enroll at NC State mid-semester. It seemed likely he would but not a guarantee.

Then Isaiah Miranda came along and grabbed the final scholarship slot. It proved to be a tough situation. Other colleges don't have that language requirement.

Looks like UNC is hiring Chip Lindey as the new offensive coordinator. He was the head coach at Troy for three years, and has been tied at the hip with UCF coach Gus Malzahn.

To show how crazy this has become at this time of the year, Indiana junior tight end AJ Barner will be seeing NC State, Pittsburgh and Michigan in that order Friday-through-Sunday.

The crunch is real with a dead period starting Sunday, and then you have Christmas coming up.

Coffeyville (Kan.) C.C. sophomore safety Bishop Fitzgerald was offered by NC State and might squeeze in a trip, as early as this weekend. He wants to early enroll and has a Jan. 1 deadline that he is hoping to work under. He's been to SMU and he knows Maryland due to being from Dale City (Va.) Gar-Field High. Cincinnati and Arizona State are his other offers who will make his top five. NCSU safeties coach Joe DeForest is the point man on his recruitment and met up with him this week in Dale City.
