Recruiting Quarterback that Caden Gordon hopes NC State looks at...

When I asked Caden Gordon who he'd like to work on to come to NC State, he mentioned his former Santaluces High quarterback Will Prichard. Apparently, he went to Arkansas State and now is at a junior college, and would be able to bounce back to Division I in a year.

My guess is he left the Red Wolves after getting beaten out by fellow true freshman quarterback Jaylen Raynor, who threw for 2,550 yards, rushed for 373 yards and had 22 total touchdowns (17 throwing) in 10-plus games. Raynor went to Kernersville (N.C.) East Forsyth High and blew up early in his college career, taking over Sept. 23. He'll have that position on lock down unless he transfers.

Recruiting Preston Douglas picks South Carolina…

There was a lot of talk of Preston Douglas being done for South Carolina last week, and he picked the Gamecocks on Wednesday. So, one less visitor this upcoming weekend.

Doeren liked Douglas enough to visit his school and offer him himself. Douglas and Doeren had a shared Kansas City area background I believe.

Could it impact tight end Mike Tyler? perhaps.

Recruiting Defensive back Jontae Gilbert update...

Atlanta (Ga.) Douglass senior Jontae Gilbert talked to Georgia Rivals after officially visiting Georgia this weekend. I get the sense that the Bulldogs have been blowing hot and cold about Gilbert's abilities. This week, it is trending up, at least for now. UGA wants him as a corner.

The problem is that Gilbert wants to commit Oct. 19, so that is basically forever in the recruiting game. He plans to hit up Georgia in July and a game in the fall.

Gilbert is doing a mid-week visit to NC State, and South Carolina, Louisville and Central Florida are in the mix. I guess it will simply be a waiting game to see if Georgia really does want Gilbert, or at some point, schools start to fill up.

In many ways, Gilbert's recruitment reminds me of Asaad Brown's a year ago. They started off hot, and Gilbert committed early to Ohio State. Then it started to cool down and some schools jumped off the bandwagon. And NC State just holds steady throughout the whole process.
