Recruiting No NC State target committed to...

None of NC State's targets pulled the trigger so far on their first official visit weekend, May 31-June 2. West Virginia, Central Florida, South Carolina and Clemson, all had busy recruiting weekends.

There are two train of thoughts some believe — a.) players will commit and keep taking visits because they have unlimited visits now, or b.) they won't commit right away because they have unlimited visits now.

Recruiting Doeren Camp Insider...

Doeren Camp Insider

Lots of interesting things to see and write about today at the second of four one-day camps. NC State senior quarterback Will Wilson swung by and so did senior wide receiver target Arrion Concepcion of Charlotte, N.C., who got to see his older brother Kevin Concepcion of the Wolfpack.

One of the fastest rising sophomores going, Ah'Mari Stevens of powerhouse Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas, came to camp. He didn't do the 40-yard dash, but he has clocked 10.8 seconds his freshman year in the 100-meter dash. He was offered by the Wolfpack and has a stellar offer list already.

The Reidsville High contingent ran deep at camp. Star junior Kendre' Harrison didn't come, but NC State won't be giving up on him even after getting cut this spring. The hope is after he sees the offense with tight end Justin Joly, he'll slowly come around some.

This month is probably going to be brutal on the coaches between camps and official visits, so I will bet they will have some amazing July vacations lined up.

Wolfpack undervalued in ESPN Football Power Index?

They have us at #28 to start the season, which seems to be way too low. David Hale concurs, and here is his assessment:

Kids are taught that, when you touch the stove and burn your hand, you won't touch the stove again. Well, here I am, touching the stove and saying NC State is finally going to have its breakthrough season. I know, I know. We've been here before. The formula goes: If the Wolfpack have high expectations, they disappoint. If they're flying under the radar, they're surprisingly good. Who cares? This is a new era of college football and, after the men's and women's basketball teams made a Final Four and an NC State alumnus won her second Cooper's Hill cheese-rolling competition, it's time for Dave Doeren's crew to step up. With the additions of transfers quarterback Grayson McCall, tight end Justin Joly, running back Jordan Waters, receiver Noah Rogers and offensive lineman Zeke Correll, the offense is as loaded with talent as it has ever been in Doeren's 11-year tenure. Tony Gibson's defenses are always excellent, and the schedule sets up nicely for the Pack. So why does the FPI have them at No. 28, behind five other ACC teams? Because the FPI knows not to touch the stove again.

New NCAA rule allowing on field advertisements

From ESPN - "Starting this season, the NCAA will allow commercial sponsor advertisements on football fields for regular-season games in all three divisions, the organization announced Thursday.

The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved the recommendation from the Football Rules Committee. The rule allows for corporate advertisements to be placed in three spots on the field: A single advertisement centered on the 50-yard line, along with no more than two smaller flanking advertisements elsewhere on the field. It can be done on a game-by-game basis or for the entire season."

I suspect logos on helmets and jerseys will be next. Got to find all kinds of new revenue streams with the House settlement and players cut.

I wasn't sure if NC State was going to offer Nick Reddish, not because of his talent, but after trying with his older brother Quentin Reddish and then backing off of him late at this time last year. Quentin Reddish was a solid safety prospect with great size, who became a Rivals.com four-star prospect and signed with Virginia Tech over Wake Forest, NC State and a brief flirtation with Miami (Fla.) late. The Wolfpack preferred Brody Barnhardt and Ronnie Royal more in the end.

So, we'll see if Nick Reddish has much interest in the Wolfpack coming up. Talented athlete, who can play multiple positions in the secondary, returned kicks and is a standout in baseball for Independence. Notre Dame, USC, Ole Miss, Tennessee, UNC, Duke, Louisville, Missouri, Wake Forest, Wisconsin and Virginia Tech have all offered. His parents are from Durham, N.C.
