I like many got BYU/SMU, Auburn/California and Georgia Tech/Syracuse wrong. I'll combine the two weeks together at some point soon.

ACC OT: SMU benches QB Preston Stone...

SMU has surprisingly changed it up at the quarterback spot, with junior Preston Stone being replaced by sophomore Kevin Jennings. Their numbers through two games are similar except for one category, the smaller, quicker Jennings can really run. Coach Rhett Lashlee showing some stones with this move after Stone threw for 3,197 yards, 28 touchdowns and six interceptions last year, and was a coup for them in recruiting (plus whatever NIL money he is receiving).

Be interesting to see if Stone is going to be very cognizant of not playing in more than four regular season games.

Going forward……

For rest of this season:

Time to quickly rebuild and that starts on the OL. Let it be known that if performance does not improve immediately then plan to ride the pine. What difference, at this point, does it make to play Bonner and some others?

After the season:

I would reprioritize NIL money. We are fine at the skill positions (hopefully won’t lose too much skill to the portal) and we should be able to attract a decent grad qb to back up Bailey.

We need quality OL and DL depth badly. That was the difference last night. I know we swung and missed on a few NTs to spell Cleveland but that has to be fixed going forward.

I think our OL is soft. Hate to say it and that goes back to strength and conditioning and one of our beloved leads that program but we have to do better there. Looking at some of the OL-I saw some paunches and flab. Got to change that.
