Part of this could be related to not getting Monroe (N.C.) High senior Jordan Young and the other part could be that he's been playing terrific.

Readers of The Run Down will know that I've been bullish about Charlotte Providence Day safety Cairo Skanes. He committed to Richmond last summer, and then a month later, switched to Miami (Ohio) on June 23. I thought it was a steal for both schools the day he committed.

He is still committed to Miami (Ohio), but he's earned recent offers from Wisconsin, Michigan State, Virginia, Duke and James Madison.

Ole Miss senior safety commit Keon Young will officially visit NC State this upcoming weekend. He was offered by the Wolfpack in Oct. 2023, and previously was committed to Florida.

The Wolfpack will be missing two players, one that was expected, but not completely the other.

Louisville wing transfer Mike James is out after his knee scope, but third big man Ismael Diouf is in street clothes. We'll see after the game if it's about being cleared as a Canadian transfer or if he's injured.

Senior kicker Collin Smith used the bye week to become the kicker against Stanford, and the Wolfpack game notes also had redshirt sophomore Kanoah Vinesett listed as "injured." However, Coach Dave Doeren made it sound like it was going to be a fluid situation for the time being, so we'll see who kicks the next three games. He seemed quite pleased with Smith's job Saturday.

We'll see what happens first, Jordan Young commits, or the Stanford at NC State game is over, but he'll announce at 3 p.m. today.

NC State won't have backup tight end Javonte Vereen, backup safety Kerry Martin, I believe backup cornerback Corey Coley is in street clothes, and it appears running back Kendrick Raphael isn't available.

Cornerback Brandon Cisse was expected to play and he is dressed out.

Current West Virginia commit Serious Stinyard, who is seriously fast, will be officially visiting NC State this weekend he told me.
